We found out today that Lela may be slightly early. And by "slightly", I mean as much as 2 weeks.
Meghaan hasn't had an easy pregnancy. It has been painful and exhausting and so full of anticipation and frustration and waiting that I can't comprehend how she has kept her sanity.
Doctors know lots of doctory stuff. They know what different measurements mean and they shoot sound waves or laser beams into meghaan's stomach and they come back with conclusive results based on something that seems so imaginary.
Sometimes I don't believe that they're showing us OUR baby during ultrasounds. It seems impossible that we can see inside a human using sound waves. But they promise me it's actually our baby, not a computer generated rendition of what our baby may look like.
Today the doctor told us that Meghaan may end up going into labor as early as this weekend.
That's not the plan. We already have this all figured out. The baby will be perfectly early. December 28. Then we are able to settle in and enjoy a week of winter break, have Christmas, and then meet our baby. We will have the hang of things on New Years Day, and watch the Ducks in comfort at home.
But that's not the plan now. The new plan is to have everything ready to go AS EARLY AS THIS FRIDAY.
Things just got a lot more intense than we had planned.
I had to give Meghaan one of her Christmas gifts today. The book "The Happiest Baby on the Block" talks about how to keep your baby from crying its face off in the first few months of life.
The first month was supposed to be January. 2015.
She now has 3 days to read as much of the book as she can. Just in case.
Welcome to parenthood. Nothing goes quite as planned, but in the end it all works out.
